01 / AnatomyAnatomy of a great prompt.
Nine ingredients. You rarely need all of them — three or four specific ones beat nine vague ones — but knowing the list tells you what is missing when a take misses.
01Genre
The single strongest steer. Name the genre first, and a sub-genre if you know it.
Telugu film melody · deep house · Carnatic kriti
02Era
A decade or period pins the production vocabulary — drum sounds, reverbs, mix balance.
late-70s · 90s film orchestra · modern 2020s
03Mood
One or two feelings, not five. Pairing a mood with a setting makes it concrete.
wistful, rain-at-night · triumphant homecoming
04Instrumentation
Name the lead instrument and the bed under it. Specific beats generic: “sarangi” over “strings”.
bansuri lead over tanpura drone and soft tabla
05Vocal type
Gender, register and delivery — or say instrumental if you want none.
breathy female alto · gritty male tenor · duet · choir
06Tempo / BPM
A number is clearer than “fast”. Add feel words if the groove matters.
72 BPM half-time · 124 BPM four-on-the-floor
07Key / scale
A key, mode or raga nudges the harmony. Treat it as a strong hint rather than a guarantee.
D minor · Dorian · Raga Yaman · pentatonic
08Structure
Describe the arc — where it builds, drops or breaks down. In Lyrics mode, section tags do this.
slow intro, big second chorus, stripped bridge
09Production texture
The finish: room, width, grit, space. This is what separates a demo feel from a polished one.
tape-saturated, wide stereo pads, dry close-mic vocal
02 / ModesSimple or Lyrics mode?
Both make complete songs. The difference is how much you decide yourself.
SimpleOne description, Solimar fills the rest
Up to 3,000 characters describing the song. Solimar writes lyrics and arranges it. Attach images, video or audio as references from the + menu.
- Sketching an idea quickly
- You care about the vibe more than the words
- Working from a mood board, clip or reference track
LyricsStyles + your words + fine controls
A Styles box (≤ 1,000) and a Lyrics box (≤ 5,000) — write your own or use AI lyrics — plus More options: Max mode, vocal gender, duration, weirdness, style influence, variety, exclude styles, title and Personalize.
- The exact words matter (a dedication, a hook you already have)
- You need a specific structure or length
- You want to keep certain sounds out
03 / StylesWriting the Styles box.
Comma-separated descriptors, most important first. The model weights early terms more, so lead with genre and lead instrument and end with texture.
- Genre and sub-genre, with language if there are vocals (“Telugu film melody”).
- Tempo and key — a number and a key or raga (“92 BPM, D major”).
- Lead instrument, then the bed under it.
- Vocal type and delivery.
- Mood and production texture last.
The box accepts up to 1,000 characters, but 10–20 focused descriptors usually steer better than a paragraph. Cut anything that repeats another term.
Example stylesStyles 147 / 1,000 characters
Telugu film melody, 92 BPM, D major, bansuri lead, strings and acoustic guitar, soft tabla groove, warm female vocal, nostalgic, wide cinematic mix
04 / LyricsLyrics, section tags and cues.
Put a tag on its own line above each block. Tags shape where the song builds, repeats and resolves; short cues in parentheses suggest how a line is performed.
Section tags that work well| Tag | Use it for |
|---|
[Intro] | Opening bars; often instrumental or a hummed line. |
|---|
[Verse] | Story lines; lower energy, new words each time. |
|---|
[Pre-Chorus] | The lift that tells the listener a hook is coming. |
|---|
[Chorus] | The hook. Repeat the same words each time it returns. |
|---|
[Post-Chorus] | A short chant or riff after the hook. |
|---|
[Bridge] | A change of view or harmony before the last chorus. |
|---|
[Instrumental] / [Solo] | A break for the lead instrument. |
|---|
[Break] / [Drop] | Strip down, then hit — useful in dance and film songs. |
|---|
[Outro] | Wind-down or a final tag of the hook. |
|---|
Example lyricsLyrics 288 / 5,000 characters
[Intro]
(humming)
[Verse]
Streetlights hum a song I used to know
Every window holds a softer glow
[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm almost there…
[Chorus]
(harmonies)
Take me home, take me home tonight
Where the river meets the evening light
[Bridge]
(whispered)
Don't let go
[Outro]
Take me home
Performance cues: (whispered) (soft, intimate) (belted) (call and response) (harmonies) (spoken) (humming) (crowd claps)
- Repeat the chorus words exactly each time — that is what makes it a hook.
- Keep lines about a breath long, with similar syllable counts inside a section.
- Cues are hints, not commands. Most are performed, the occasional one is sung — keep them short.
- Stuck? AI lyrics in Lyrics mode drafts a full set from a one-line idea, then you edit.
05 / ExcludeExclude styles.
A short list of sounds you do not want, up to 200 characters. It works best with a few clear, concrete terms:
autotune, trap hi-hats, EDM drop
- Use it for things that keep creeping in, not as a second style list.
- Do not exclude something you also asked for in Styles.
- The wand next to the field suggests exclusions from your styles.
06 / ReferencesReferences & covers.
In Simple mode, attach images, a video or audio from the + menu or by dragging files onto the composer. References steer mood, texture and feel; describe in words what you want taken from them (“the pace of this clip”, “the warmth of this photo”).
Covers: from a song's menu choose Remix ▸ Cover. Create opens in Lyrics mode with the source attached — change the styles to the new genre and set Audio influence.
While references are attached, vocal gender, duration, the sliders, exclusions and title pause until you remove them. Only use audio you own or have rights to.
07 / SlidersSliders, explained.
The sliders live under More options in Lyrics mode. Defaults are sensible — move one at a time so you can hear what it did.
Familiar → WildWeirdness
How far the model may wander from conventional structure and sound.
Tip: Keep low for devotional, film and classical briefs; raise it for experimental fusion.
Loose → StrictStyle influence
How tightly the Styles box steers the result.
Tip: Raise it when a specific instrument or genre keeps going missing.
Exact → MaxVariety
How different the takes are from each other.
Tip: Exact when you are close and want two near-alternatives; High or Max when exploring.
New → FaithfulAudio influence
Only for covers: how closely the new version follows the source song.
Tip: Low for a genre flip; high to keep the original melody and phrasing.
Also under More options: Max mode (higher fidelity and stronger style adherence, on plans that include it), vocal gender (raises the odds — the model may still choose), and duration (10–360 seconds, or Auto).
08 / LanguagesLanguage & Indian-language tips.
Solimar treats Indian languages as a first-class case. A few habits make the difference between a line that sounds sung and one that sounds read.
Write in the native script
Telugu in Telugu script, Hindi in Devanagari, Tamil in Tamil, Punjabi in Gurmukhi. Native script gives the model the clearest pronunciation.
Tinglish and Hinglish work too
Romanized lyrics are fine — keep one spelling per word throughout the song so it is sung the same way each time.
Say the language in the style
Add “Telugu lyrics” or “Hindi vocal” to the Styles box as well as writing the words in that language.
Mix languages on purpose
A Hindi verse with an English hook works well — tag the switch with a new section so the phrasing resets.
Match the tradition's instruments
A Tamil folk song wants parai and nadaswaram; a Punjabi track wants dhol and tumbi. The language and the palette reinforce each other.
09 / MistakesCommon mistakes.
Contradicting yourself
“Calm aggressive metal lullaby” forces the model to guess. Pick one direction; fusion is fine when it is deliberate.
Adjectives instead of details
“Amazing, beautiful, epic” steer nothing. Replace them with an instrument, a tempo or a setting.
Burying the genre
Descriptors near the start carry more weight. Lead with genre and lead instrument, finish with texture.
Naming artists or songs
Describe the sound instead — era, voice, instruments, production. A description steers reliably; a name may be ignored or refused.
Lyrics without structure
One long block of text sings like one long verse. Break it up with section tags and repeat the chorus words.
Over-long lines
Lines longer than a breath get rushed. Keep lines short and syllable counts similar within a section.
Stuffing the exclusions
Exclude styles works best with a few clear terms. A long list can pull the result somewhere odd.
10 / Before → afterBefore and after.
